Public consultations are carried out as part of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure. This is a requirement of the Act of 3 October 2008 on the provision of information on the environment and its protection, public participation in environmental protection and on environmental impact assessments (i.e. Journal of Laws 2017, item 1405), the so-called EIA Act. This Act results, inter alia, from the provisions of the following Act:

 

•  Directive 2001/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 June 2001 on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment, and
   
•  Directive 2003/35/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 May 2003 providing for public participation in respect of the drawing up of certain plans and programmes relating to the environment and amending with regard to public participation and access to justice Council Directives 85/337/EEC and 96/61/EC.
   

 
In accordance with the requirements of Polish and European law, public participation is an integral part of the EIA.

Information on public consultations will appear at the stage of environmental impact assessment.

The first stage of public consultations aimed at informing the public and local government administration about the planned investment took place.
