Polimery Police: Grupa Azoty Polyolefins produces first 100 thousand tons of polypropylene during installation startup

By May 15, 2024, Grupa Azoty Polyolefins produced a total of 100,000 tons of polypropylene. This production milestone was reached during the startup and testing of guaranteed parameters at the PDH (propane dehydrogenation) and PP (polypropylene) installations, as well as at the AUX (auxiliary installations) and HST (maritime gas terminal).

The polypropylene produced at the new installations in Police has passed quality tests and is available for direct sale and distribution. In line with the Company’s plan, its product range is being gradually expanded. The target portfolio will include over 30 types of polypropylene under the Gryfilen® brand. New product types are being incrementally introduced, in accordance with the planned schedule and as products pass validation tests for production and processing by customers. The Maritime Gas Terminal in Police regularly receives propane and ethylene shipments. Last week, the Company received its ninth propane shipment, said Wojciech Blew, the Acting President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty Polyolefins.

Grupa Azoty Polyolefins’ Gryfilen® product portfolio includes homopolymers and copolymers in various types tailored to processors' needs. The current offering includes:

  • Gryfilen® H02-L and H04-L for producing strings and strapping tapes in the extrusion process,
  • Gryfilen® H03-N for producing rigid packaging in thermoforming technology, suitable for food contact,
  • Gryfilen® H03-F for producing BOPP films,
  • Gryfilen® H12-G for injection molding for various applications, including household items, sports and recreational articles, toys, and thin-walled rigid packaging.

Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd., the General Contractor for the project under the EPC contract, is comprehensively responsible for implementing the Polimery Police project. Project completion involves achieving and maintaining the guaranteed parameters specified in the licensing agreements for the PDH and PP installations. Achieving these parameters is closely linked to conducting the integrity test of the entire installation.
