Propylene tank already at the construction site

The first large-size transport to the construction site of the “Polimery Police” project was successfully completed. In the 3-day operation, a 584-ton propylene tank was transported from the port in Police. The last stage started on January 17th at 23:00 and lasted until 3:00 am.

The cargo arrived at the port on Friday, January 15th, on the vessel "Aura". It is the first of five tanks that will be used to store the product of the propane- propylene dehydrogenation plant. Propylene will ultimately be directed to the installation for the production of polypropylene.

- Transport planning took several months. This required proper preparation of the entire route, including, inter alia, the construction of a temporary bridge crossing in the sewage treatment plant, marking out temporary roads and the involvement of the necessary logistics services. Thanks to this, operation was carried out without any problems and in a safe manner - says Andrzej Niewiński, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty Polyolefins S.A.

The volume of the delivered tank is 3485 m3. The working volume of the tank is 2,800 m3, which will enable the storage of up to 1,400 tons of propylene. The tank weighs 584.9 tons, is 72.13 m long, 8.9 m wide and 11.13 m high. The propylene tank was entirely made in Poland, in the Gdynia Shipyard by Zakład Konstrukcji Spawanych FERRUM S.A.
